Ridiculist Tournament Rules

CAPTAIN & CO-CAPTAIN DUTIES:
If you are a captain or co-captain of a team, it is your responsibility to keep an open line of communication with each other and with your team. You are responsible for informing your teammates of anything they need to know concerning the tourney. Please don't assume that one or the other will be taking care of things. This is where the open line of communication comes into play. Copy each other all emails sent out to your team, so that you are made aware of what's been done. Any concerns brought to the attention of either one of you, should be copied to the other. This way you will always be informed of what's happening. Should you not be able to fulfill your captain or co-captain duties, or feel that you want to step down: If you are a captain you can either appoint a new captain, or have the team vote. If you are a co-captain stepping down, again, it's up to the captain to appoint a new co-captain, or have the team vote. You will need to let your tourney administrators know of these changes ASAP.

LISTING/LISTERS:
This is an issue that has escalated once again in both tourneys and regular ridic rooms. Although we have no control over this type of activity, we do NOT condone it in this league. HOWEVER, we also discourage any kind of accusations/harassment towards other tourney members. We want the tourney to be fun for all. So in respect to others, we ask that you exercise *good sportsmanship* in the games, and refrain from cheating of any kind, as well as harassing other players. If you have a complaint please email the tourney administrators at ridictourney2003@yahoo.com, and the administrators will address any issues that are brought up individually. ANY form of harassment for ANY reason will NOT be tolerated.

FALSE STARTS:
To eliminate the number of false starts prior to the start of a game, these are a few simple rules to follow: Captains and co-captains need to direct your teammates to their respective teams as they enter the room. Remind and inform everyone that the games have not yet started. Captains of both teams have to be in agreement on the start of the game. If your captain is not present, then it's the co-captain's responsibility to follow through in the same manner. Also, if you notice anyone not speaking in actions prior to the start of the game, please inform them to do so, to prevent accidental scoring. If you SHOULD happen to begin answering before the official start of the game, LEAVE IMMEDIATELY until your captain tells you it is safe to return.

DROPOUTS:
If you decide to drop out of the tourney, you will need to let your captains know. The captain in turn will inform the tourney administrators. Only the administrators can officially take you off the team. Should you decide you want to join again, you can sign up to the tourney thru our sign-up form, and you will be placed in the next available opening. Once you are placed on a team, the captain of that team will be informed. Your captain will welcome you and inform your team members of your joining. You will be mailed the game schedule from your tourney administrator upon notification of your placement to a team.

NO-SHOWS:
This is not a stipulation, but rather a consideration to your team. If you can't make a game, please let your team captain or co-captain know ahead of time. Also, should there be a member who has missed a considerable amount of games, it is the captain's duty to get in touch with the member and request confirmation of their continuation in the tourney. It is also the captain's responsibility to copy the tourney administration on this.

SCHEDULES:
Before you join the tourney, please make sure you can make most of the games based on the schedule. We also ask that you please check the message boards (your teams message board and the main tourney message board) frequently, changes and schedules will be posted there. The board is also where you can voice your opinions, concerns, and complaints (hopefully none), cheer for your team, or just post for the fun of it. By all means, please feel free to use the boards.

JOINING YOUR TOURNEY ROOM:
Once you are informed of which room you are playing in, upon arrival to your tourney room, please be aware of the following:

  1. Every person upon joining the tourney room will not have a voice. This is to discourage non-tourney members from participating in the tourney game. Upon arriving to your tourney room, you will be "ungagged" or given voice by your monitor of the games.
Important !!!! It is your monitor's responsibility to make sure you are voiced. If you think you are not voiced, let your captain or co- captain know...NOT the opposing team's leaders. The captain can then inform the monitor. Captains, please make sure you have adequate back-up in case of an emergency !
  2. We ask that you please arrive at least 10-15 minutes before game time, so that the monitors can "ungag" each and everyone of you before the start of the game.
  3. Please use the name that you signed up with when you join the tourney rooms. If you decide to change it please let your team captain, or co-captain know. You will not be given a voice if you show up with a name that is not on the team rosters, for the monitors will have no idea if you are a tourney member or not. Remember, the rooms are now public, so anyone with a "nick" can join the rooms.

Once you are given voice, if the scoreboard needs to be cleared, you are all to join one team and help in clearing the scores. Once the scores are cleared, join your respective teams. During this time, prior to the start of the game, whenever you speak in the room, please speak all in actions. This way, you will not affect the scores should you say something that the bot might pick up as an answer to a question round. The monitor/monitors in the room will advise the teams when they can start game play.

CHAMP ROUNDS:
No champ rounds will be played.. Take this time to take a rest. Always remember if you "speak" in the room, speak in action ONLY !

STATISTICS & SCORES:
In this tourney we play best of three games per match, so any team who wins two games wins the match. After each match, it is the captain's and the co-captain's responsibility to keep track of the scores. Or, at the captain's discretion, you can ask for a volunteer score keeper. All stats are to be sent to the tourney administrators. Please use the report form to send the game reports.

So, good luck to all !!! Play fair !!! Have fun and may the best team win !!!
